Launching an Integrated Online Presence in Half a Day
Rob Pongsajapan, Gary Cope, Michael Kiser, and Mike Connolly
Today's web-based tools have made it possible to set up a sophisticated online presence in short order. After a brief orientation, workshop participants will break into teams to plan and execute a web site for a hypothetical scenario. Teams will choose the right mix of tools/strategies from an array of freely available multimedia, content publishing, and social media tools introduced during the orientation. No prior experience (or web savviness!) necessary. Bring your collaborative spirit and your laptop!

How to Draw Traffic to Your Web Site
Virginia Tech's Gary Cope will host a panel of search engine optimization (SEO) professionals who will critique Web sites submitted by CCA conference attendees. The panel will project the sites on a screen, identify common usability and SEO mistakes and offer suggestions for site improvement. The panel will demonstrate how to monitor sites using Google's free Webmaster Tools. Participants will learn about other popular SEO and Web site tools they can use to monitor and enhance the productivity of their sites.

Who controls the messages out there on various Web sites? Virginia Tech's Michael Kiser will lead a discussion about balancing the democracy of Web communications and stewarding the responsibility for institutional branding when it comes to controlling or not controlling messages students and faculty produce online. Bring your ideas and experiences to the discussion.
